An Introduction to Grief and Loss Counseling:
Strategies for Practitioners

The overall goal of this continuing education opportunity is to assist counselors to gain knowledge about basic understandings of grief and loss counseling. We will explore together the relationship between grief and attachment, issues in counseling children/adolescents and loss, loss of a child, and the dynamics of complicated bereavement. Our conversation about strategies will include designing rituals as well as other interventions found to be useful in facilitating the grief process. The facilitator will recommend a wide variety of resources for continuing the journey to understanding grief and loss.
