Presenter Bio: Richard Cook, M.Ed, LMFT (retired)

Rich received his graduate degree from Seattle University. His MFT license (0359) was issued in 1987 and he remained in private practice until 2020. He was a member of AAMFT throughout his career and served one term as president of the Nevada Division (NAMFT). Together with friend and colleague, JB Balmut, Rich helped design, build and implement programs for Mountain Shadow Challenge, an experiential learning (ropes course) facility. Together they offered experiences in team building and personal growth to various juvenile organizations, schools and businesses. Rich transitioned from his work with adolescents to focus on individuals and couples seeking therapy for relationship issues. This became the favorite emphasis of his practice. He has been married for four decades to Valerie. Together they enjoy two grown children and two granddaughters. His beloved golden retriever, Nalu, was a fixture in his

office and continues to be ever present.
